We are proud to announce that Jerome Veldsman has joined us as a Director as of 1 April 2012.
Jerome was previously, and for some twenty years, a director of Cliffe Dekker Hofmeyr in their Finance and Banking division. Jerome was involved in three of the fifteen new JSE listings in 2011, and practices law over a wide range, including all aspects of enterprises regulated by the Financial Services Board and the Reserve Bank, and general commercial and tax work, with a special interest in private equity and venture capital legal challenges, and specialisation in insurance law. Jerome will significantly strengthen the firm's commercial and financial law offering.
Jerome was attracted to join Walkers because of our personal style of practice, that is becoming increasingly rare these days. Our emphasis is on the practice of law as a vocation and not just a business enterprise. Jerome’s joining Walkers gives credence to our firm belief that to give our clients the best possible service at a reasonable cost is best achieved by remaining a mid-sized firm with the focus on quality rather than quantity.
At the same time that Jerome joins us, Kamlesh Ker has resigned as a Director but will remain on as a consultant and continue to specialise in mediation, alternate dispute resolution and labour Law. John O’Leary is leaving to practice for his own account from 1 May, specialising in mediation and dispute resolution in family, commercial and labour disputes.
We will continue to look after our clients’ interests by providing a carefully chosen spectrum of legal services, and creating lasting bonds, through flexibility and the capacity to cater for the bespoke needs of each and every client - from a private individual to the largest corporation.
